Let’s talk weddings for a moment here. No, not the ACTUAL wedding part, but something that almost always happens before a wedding, the bridal shower! What is the first thing you think of when you think of going to a bridal shower? Lingerie! Probably not for you (unless you are the bride), but gifting it.
Depending on how well you know the bride, and who or how many other people are coming, it can get awkward real quick. Especially for the shy brides that are out there. Maybe lingerie isn’t their thing? Or maybe they don’t want to have to share with 30 other random women of varying ages and friend levels what they had in mind. It can just get weird. And fast.
As an alternative to the lingerie type bridal shower, why not host a kitchen themed bridal shower? It would be perfect for the bride that loves to cook, or is moving into a new home with her hubby after the wedding. A tasty brunch, with some sweets and fruit, a bottle of champagne or mimosas, and you are good to go!
If you have time to plan in advanced (which you should), suggest invitees to bring their favorite recipe for the bride, and maybe some kitchen themed gifts. For example, if you know the bride loves to decorate seasonally, and know why type of table she has, maybe each guest can bring her a tablecloth, place-mats napkins and napkin rings for different occasions.
Other ideas for gifts to bring to a kitchen themed bridal shower would be assortments of:
- Jelly and Jam
- Coffee and Tea
- Recipes (on card)
- Cooking herbs (plants)
- Infused Oils
- Herb blends
- Kitchen linens
